Divorce or separation can be one of the most stressful life events you will ever have to deal with. It involves huge emotional and practical challenges - and also has a legal dimension. The Base helps you bridge the gap between law and life event.
We are not working as lawyers at The Base but each of our consultants has at least a decade of experience as a divorce lawyer: we really know what our clients are facing. We use our past legal experience, together with insights gained through therapeutic training and mediation work, to offer a dynamic approach to this legal and life event. We support you so that you can act with understanding, insight and intention.
We are deeply committed to ensuring that clients of The Base have clarity, control and compassion at each stage of this process.

About us
Cady Pearce, Founder & Divorce Consultant
I am a child of separated parents and have always wanted to help families going through divorce and separation.
After graduating from Oxford University, with a first-class degree in Modern History, I trained as a financial litigator with the magic circle law firm Allen & Overy. I loved the intellectual challenge of financial litigation - but what I really wanted to do was help separating families. I left commercial law to work as a family lawyer and combined my forensic approach to intellectual problems with my love of people.
During my decade as a family lawyer I worked at two of London's top firms, trained as a collaborative lawyer and worked as a Legal Director. I now bring this wealth of experience to my career as a divorce consultant and founder of The Base Divorce & Separation Consultancy.
I am in my final year of training as a therapist and bring insights gained from my training to The Base. I spend my spare time with family and friends, at the theatre, gigs or exhibitions and eating delicious food.
Mai-Ling Ho, Divorce Consultant
I started my legal career in the City, working in litigation and ship finance. I loved the strategic side of my job but wanted my work to make a difference to someone’s day to day life – so I left the City to work in family law.
During my 13 years as a family lawyer I worked at two different boutique firms in and around London and was regularly ranked in the Legal 500 as a “Recommended Lawyer”. In addition to helping clients resolve matters through negotiations and through court proceedings, I also worked as a mediator and trained in the “one lawyer, two clients” approach. I have always been committed to finding creative ways to help my clients. That commitment has now led me to The Base.
As a divorce consultant, I draw on all my past experience to provide practical and emotional support throughout an incredibly difficult time. I am committed to the values of The Base: providing clients with clarity, control and compassion at every stage.
In my spare time, I enjoy running, boxing and watching a good Netflix series.
